Friends, are you tired of those pesky side markers burning o

I know I was. After taking a look at the corroded sockets for 3 of the 4 corner marker lights I decided that I was fed up and wasn't going to take it anymore.
So I modified the lights. I changed them from the single incandescent light to a string of 6 white LEDS each.
I have an attachment that shows what I did to make this happen...just incase you might want to do this mod. Only took a few hours (not including the time for glue and silicon to dry, of course).

Have fun with it.
Cheers, Jim

Well, my 2 rear bulbs were gone so I ordered up some LED's. I'm about 3/4 of the way through the steps to go LED...
I'm waiting on the gorilla glue and silicon to dry a bit, then I'll re-wire the connectors and reassemble. I might do the fronts in a few weeks (didn't want to do them all at once due to an upcoming trip).

The lens's were already broken a bit, but I was able to get them apart without further damage.

Want to know the sad part? This is only my second mod. My first was to install an "auto-up" circuit... Call me lame...

Took me about 4 hours to get everything apart and back together. Of course, I only did the 2 rear markers so far... I'll probably do the others in a few weeks. I'm heading to FL in the am, so I need to get ready.

I'd take some pictures, but what you have on your site is exactly what I did and how it looks. The only difference is that I didn't have any clear silicon, so I used white. I ended up putting electrical connectors on the wires, but then taped them to the point that they'll never come apart again anyway... I'm hoping that this is the last time I have to mess with them anyway!!! :nod2:

Special note to anyone trying this on their own... The gorilla glue says it will expand 3x, they're not kidding... I set it outside in the sun (about 85 here today :wink2: ) and I had to cut a bit of excess glue off the plastic at the joints.
